There is too little space here to fully explore the Bible's treatment of
wisdom, both as a virtue and as an apostrophe, but it's worth looking
at a few notable refrains. Consider:
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom" (Psalm 111:10)
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge" (Proverbs 1:7)
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 9:10)
We see that wisdom begins with a proper appreciation of and admiration
for God. In addition, we know wisdom is not something we accumulate
through our own striving, nor is it a reward for our merit. On the
contrary, wisdom is a virtue that truly is its own reward, for we can
only attain it through knowledge of God and relationship with Him.
