The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:7-11
In the Psalms there is so much to write about. It is a book that is a language of emotion. Whenever we face the hardest times this book is one we go to the most. We feel the most connection because these were people expressing times of hurt, discontent, fear, and praise. We find David experiencing the whole spectrum of life. We see him as a king or as one who is promised the throne by God - A man of great wealth or on the path to great wealth who says he esteems God's Word more than any possession. He loves God's Word more than any thing.
Today it's easy to let life in all its forms come between us and the rewards to be gained by knowing and meditating on God's Word. His law is perfect, His testimony is sure, and His precepts are right. David declares God's Word in all of its forms to be more valuable than gold, one of the most valued possessions of his time. How do we value God's Word?
