Job answers his friends with facts; yes, those who are against God appear to thrive. God watches over the wicked and the just; He knows all things and orchestrates all things according to His infinite wisdom and power. There is no question Who is in charge of the universe. Even the animals and trees know they can't question God's authority. This world's definition of success does not measure up to God's goal for his children. He has so much more in mind.
As we live life, striving to do right and please God, it is sometimes tempting to allow our focus to wander and become envious of what appears to us as sinful gain. Those without Christ seem to easily obtain all they pursue. We would do well to grasp Job's reminder - God controls every aspect of this world. His plans for us far exceed our labels of success.
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! - Romans 11:33
