Hebrews 5-7

Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25

The author of Hebrews spends much time on the superiority of Christ over all the shadows in the Old Testament that represented the things to come with Christ. It is a book of incredible value that tells us what we have in Jesus today. Sometimes it might seem hard to get through with talking about the different high priesthoods to establish the superiority of Christ, but one fact stands out as a theme throughout--Jesus is our perfect high priest and mediator. He is exalted over all angels, princes, patriarchs, and priests. He is our God, and He lives eternally to intercede for us.

There is nothing that is outside of His power and reach, but the person who comes to God can only come through Him. Who is like unto our Mediator? We have weaknesses, just as every other man who has ever come through life. We are complete in Him, and have nothing lacking especially since He is eternal and always making intercession for us. Jesus said, "...I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost.." (John 17:12) speaking of His disciples, but throughout Scripture it speaks about His protection and provision for His children. What more provision could one ask? We have access through an eternal Mediator and Savior that will never fail us. Even as we have failed at times, He never has disappointed us. All of us face conflicts, failures, persecutions, etc., but confidence comes through the fact that the throne room of heaven is wide open to His children. He lives there eternally to intercede and save to the uttermost all of His children.

"There is nothing more amazing than a prayerless Christian."  --Anonymous, The Kneeling Christian

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16
